Full Moon

Full Moon in Kyiv. This is Mykhailivska square in the central Kyiv. It is named by Mykhailivsky monastery, a beautiful blue tower of which you can see on this photo. The original building was demolished by the Bolsheviks, but the Monastery was rebuilt when Ukraine gained independence from Russia in 1990’s. It is one of the favourite places of the Kyivates for the Easter service, when they gather on the square with their Easter cakes and painted eggs and wait for the Minister to sprinkle it with the saint water. It was also a shelter during the 2013-14 uprise in the capital, accepting the students fleeing from the police.
